Arit Anderson, Cultivate London Patron

30th May 2023 – Cultivate London is delighted to announce that Arit Anderson has agreed to be a Patron of the charity.

In 2021 she was commissioned to design the BBC One Show & RHS Garden of Hope at the RHS Chelsea Show Garden. Arit is a Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute, Trustee for the National Garden Scheme, RHS Ambassador for the Environment and Community, Co-patron at Tuppenybarn and co-founder of the  Sustainable Landscape Foundation. She also works as a presenter for Gardeners World and writes for national publications.

Arit’s interest and involvement in horticultural education – for gardeners and the wider public in an ever-changing climate – combine perfectly with the aims and purposes of Cultivate London. Arit also lives locally in West London.

Arit says: Everybody needs access to quality green space, and  when it can be provided at a community level the rewards are exponential. I am so thrilled to be Patron for Cultivate, a local social enterprise and charity, that thrives on improving education, employment, health and well-being at a local level. I hope to be able to help them “join the green dots” between  residents, businesses and like-minded initiatives and organisations, so that the urban environment becomes a better place for people and wildlife in the area.

Steve Pocock, Chair of Cultivate London says: Cultivate London is delighted that Arit has agreed to be our Patron. With her support and advice, Cultivate London hopes to reach an even wider public, educate a new generation of young gardeners and create many more beautiful gardens for communities in the area.

Arit will be working with Cultivate over the coming months, helping Cultivate to reach a wider audience and have even more impact in their important work.

Cultivate London, founded in 2010, works to improve health and wellbeing in West London by encouraging and supporting local communities to engage with their green spaces. By sharing  horticultural and environmental knowledge, Cultivate enables people of all ages to better connect with their community. Cultivate’s training provides job ready skills which improve employment opportunities, especially for young people. We look after community and school gardens, run workshops and teaching sessions, carry out maintenance projects and generally create sustainable, productive and beautiful gardens in a wide range of spaces.

Arit Anderson is a garden and landscape designer, writer, podcaster and TV presenter.

After a career in fashion, and with an increasing interest in holistic therapies, she found the perfect solution by combining the visual nature of fashion and the healing properties of her therapies in garden design and horticulture. After studying at Capel Manor College with two other students, won the Fresh Talent design category at RHS Chelsea in 2013, and then herself went on to win a Gold Medal at RHS Hampton Court in 2016 in the conceptual category. The garden’s message on climate change and the environment is now at the heart of Arit’s  work. In 2021 she designed the Chelsea Show Garden for the Royal Horticultural Society.
